Laroque-des-Albères, with its approximately 2,000 inhabitants and the small castle in the old town center, is considered one of the most picturesque places in the Pyrénées Mediterranée. The Côte Vermeille from Argelès-sur-Mer (Racou) to Cerbère - just before the Spanish border - offers a great variety of landscapes and a number of hidden beaches. The best way to discover this section is on the coastal footpath or by boat (boat rental in Argeles sur Mer).

Panoramas are guaranteed on the Côte Vermeille. Hidden bays and terraced vineyards - the landscape is picturesque and attracted many artists such as Matisse, Derain, Picasso and Dali to the region.

Hiking enthusiasts will find numerous magnificent routes in the Alberes and on the coast. Mountain bikers love the challenge of climbing up to the peaks of the Tour de Madeloc or the Pic Néoulous (1256 m). The Eurovélo 8 cycle path, on the other hand, takes even less ambitious cyclists through the plains and vineyards to the sea. The markets invite you to stroll, especially the Saturday market in Ceret. Those interested in art and culture find many highlights in this region such as the Abbey of Saint-Martin du Canigou, Serrabona etc. Recharge your batteries, the Mediterranean Pyrenees will delight you with their diversity and extraordinary nature.

The Pic Néoulous (1256 m) marks the border between France and Spain. From here you can enjoy a 360° view over the Roussillon plain, the Spanish plain, the magnificent Canigou and the Mediterranean Sea!
